3. Cookies

We use cookies on our website. These are small files that your browser automatically creates and that are stored on your device (e.g., laptop, tablet, smartphone) when you visit our website. Cookies do not cause any damage to your device, they do not contain viruses, trojans, or other harmful software.

The cookie stores information that is specific to the device being used. However, this does not mean that we immediately gain knowledge of your identity.

The use of cookies serves, on the one hand, to make the use of our website more pleasant for you. For example, we use so-called session cookies to recognize that you have already visited individual pages of our website. These are automatically deleted after leaving our website.

Furthermore, we also use temporary cookies to optimize user-friendliness, which are stored on your device for a specific period. If you visit our website again to use our services, it will automatically recognize that it is a repeat visit to our website and what inputs and settings you have made, so you do not have to enter them again.

On the other hand, we use cookies to statistically record the use of our website and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimizing our offer for you (see section 5). These cookies enable us to automatically recognize upon a return visit to our website that it is a repeated visit. These cookies are automatically deleted after a specified period of time.

The data processed by cookies for the stated purposes is necessary to safeguard our legitimate interests as well as those of third parties pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR.

4. Analysis Tools

a) Google Analytics

For the purpose of needs-based design and continuous optimization of our pages, we use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (https://www.google.de/intl/de/about/) (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; hereinafter referred to as "Google"). In this context, pseudonymized user profiles are created and cookies (see section 4) are used. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website includes:

  • Browser type/version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • Hostname of the accessing computer (IP address)
  • Time of the server request

These are transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The information is used to evaluate the use of the website, compile reports on website activity, and provide other services related to website and internet usage for market research and customizing these web pages. Furthermore, this information may be transferred to third parties if required by law or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google. Under no circumstances will your IP address be merged with other data from Google.

The IP addresses are anonymized, so that assignment is not possible (IP masking).

You can prevent the installation of cookies by adjusting your browser software accordingly; however, we would like to point out that in this case, you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) as well as the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing a browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de). For further information on data protection in connection with Google Analytics, please refer to the Google Analytics Help Center (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en).

b) Google Ads Conversion Tracking

To statistically capture the usage of our website and evaluate it for the purpose of optimizing our website for you, we also use Google Conversion Tracking. In this process, Google AdWords sets a cookie (see section 4) on your computer if you have arrived on our website via a Google ad.

These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of the AdWords customer's website and the cookie has not expired, Google and the customer can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to that page.

Each AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Therefore, cookies cannot be tracked across the websites of AdWords customers. The information obtained through the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. AdWords customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive information that could personally identify users.

If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can also reject the setting of a cookie required for this purpose - for example, via your browser settings that generally disable the automatic setting of cookies. You can also disable cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain "www.googleadservices.com". You can find Google's privacy policy on conversion tracking here: https://services.google.com/sitestats/en.html.

5. Social Media Plugins

We use social media plugins from the social networks Facebook and Twitter on our website based on Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR in order to increase the visibility of our website. The underlying promotional purpose is to be considered a legitimate interest within the meaning of the GDPR. The responsibility for data protection-compliant operation lies with their respective providers. We integrate these plugins using the so-called two-click method to best protect visitors to our website.

a) Facebook

We use Facebook social media plugins on our website to personalize their use. For this purpose, we use the "LIKE" or "SHARE" button. This is an offer from Facebook.

When you visit a page of our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to Facebook's servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly to your browser by Facebook and integrated into the website by it.

By integrating the plugins, Facebook receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have a Facebook account or are not currently logged in to Facebook. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there.

If you are logged into Facebook, Facebook can directly associate your visit to our website with your Facebook account. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the "LIKE" or "SHARE" button, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a Facebook server and stored there. The information is also published on Facebook and displayed to your Facebook contacts.

Facebook can use this information for the purpose of advertising, market research, and tailoring Facebook pages to your needs. To do this, Facebook creates usage, interest, and relationship profiles, for example, to evaluate your use of our website in relation to the advertisements displayed to you on Facebook, to inform other Facebook users about your activities on our website, and to provide further services related to the use of Facebook.

If you do not want Facebook to associate the data collected through our website with your Facebook account, you must log out of Facebook before visiting our website.

The purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by Facebook, as well as your related rights and privacy protection settings, can be found in Facebook's privacy policy (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/).

b) Twitter

Our website contains plugins from the short message network Twitter Inc. (Twitter). The Twitter plugins (tweet button) can be identified by the Twitter logo on our site. You can find an overview of tweet buttons here (https://about.twitter.com/resources/buttons).

When you visit a page of our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to the Twitter server. Twitter receives the information that you have visited our site with your IP address. If you click on the "tweet" button from Twitter while logged into your Twitter account, you can link the content of our pages to your Twitter profile. This allows Twitter to associate your visit to our pages with your user account. We would like to point out that as the provider of the pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or its use by Twitter.

If you do not wish Twitter to associate your visit to our pages with your Twitter user account, please log out of your Twitter account.

Further information can be found in Twitter's privacy policy (https://twitter.com/privacy).

During your website visit, we utilize the widely adopted SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol in conjunction with the highest encryption level supported by your browser, typically 256-bit encryption. If your browser does not support 256-bit encryption, we revert to 128-bit v3 technology instead. You can identify whether an individual page of our website is transmitted encrypted by the closed padlock symbol displayed in the lower status or upper address bar of your browser.

Furthermore, we implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction, or unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological advancements.

9. Up-to-dateness and Modification of this Privacy Policy

This privacy policy is currently valid and dated December 2023.

Due to the further development of our website and the offers available on it, or due to changed legal or regulatory requirements, it may become necessary to change this privacy policy. The current privacy policy can be accessed and printed at any time on the website at this URL.

For further information, we are at your disposal.
